Project Staff

Background – The iSNAP Education Project provides producers and agricultural profesionals with opportunities to get the latest information on emerging nutrient and pest management alternatives that meet today's need for low-cost, effective, environmentally-friendly land management. Supported by the USDA Risk Management Agency, Oregon State University Integrated Plant Protection Center and US EPA.

Project Goal – The goal of this Pacific Northwest project is to increase the ability of producers and agricultural professionals in sustainable implementing pest and nutrient management practices that enhance farm productivity while protecting the environment.

Audience – This project is open to all producers and agricultural professionals who are involved with nutrient and pest management in agricultural operations. Interested groups might include: NRCS, Cooperative Extension, Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD), Certified Crop Advisors (CCA), consultants, growers and other agencies with regulatory or planning responsibilities.

Educational Opportunities – This project emphasizes current pest and nutrient management research and information for the Pacific Northwest including:

Workshops: A series of workshops will be held in various locations in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. We use an outcome-based education approach to provide particpants with opporutnities to increase their skills and abilities.
Resource materials: Workshops will be supported by new extension publications and fact sheets, online self-paced education modules and an informative website.
Web-based proficiency testing: A need for affordable CCA credits has led to the idea of having web-based CCA courses. If it is practical to have web-based trainings then they would be based on workshop modules.
